At points along our journey, we want to take a step back and examine the nature of life, existence, consciousness, the universe, humankind, relationships, and perhaps most profoundly, ourselves. The frequency of these points varies from person to person, but we find that in order to get to the essence of our journey, we must become attuned to our inner depths.

 

Kundalini is your creative potential, your muse, your vital impulse. It is the common denominator for all forms of self-healing, inspiration and evolution. Composed of dynamic and static sequences, Kundalini yoga alternates intense and light effort in order to work the heart, the body and the spiritual dimension. It develops optimism, joie de vivre, and the circulation of love.

 

Using Kriyas (the science of sequence), meditations, pranayama (breathwork), mantras, bandhas (energetic body locks), and mudras, Kundalini Yoga provides a systematic approach to generate, capture, and direct energy from within to empower ourselves, and in the process, empowering the world as a whole.

 

Whether you are looking for a challenging physical reset or the experience of moving into transcendent states through meditation, Kundalini Yoga is an integral practice working on all levels of being. This training is designed to let you experience the powerful, multi-dimensional effects of Kundalini Yoga, from a renewed nervous system through a deeper awareness of the mind/body/spirit connection.

 

Delta Groove Yoga School is a 200 and 300 Hour Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School. Our programs will allow you to build or deepen your yogic toolkit, develop or strengthen your daily Sadhana (committed personal practice) and take these sacred teachings out into the world as a teacher, healer, and radiant being. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 200 HOUR & 300 HOUR TRAINING?

 

200-Hour training is much like a B.A: You get acquainted with the many layers of yoga philosophy and practice; you learn the basic discipline and the tools you need to develop a personal practice, embrace your destiny, and begin to share it with the world. 

 

Advanced 300-Hour training is much like an M.A: You have to have completed a 200-hour yoga teacher certification in order to qualify; you will go deeper into the philosophy and practice of Kundalini yoga; you will apprentice with your lead teachers and refine your teaching skills; you will grow in your understanding, discipline and embodiment of Kundalini yoga in order to consistently heal, uplift and inspire.

  

WHAT IS THE DAILY SCHEDULE FOR EACH WEEKEND?

200-Hour: Fridays 12:00 p.m - 7:00 p.m., Saturdays, 5:30 a.m - 7:00 p.m., Sundays 5:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. This is a 27 hour weekend schedule (there will be breaks for lunch and snacks). If you can not attend during the day for the Friday Noon class, you will need to be at the studio by 3:00, and you will be required to view and practice with the recording of the Noon class on your own time.

Advanced 300-Hour: Same, with an additional hour on Sunday afternoon + 18 weekly Tuesday evening workshops, 7:00-9:00pm, reserved for advanced trainees. 

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR CERTIFICATION?

200-Hour: In addition to the 7 weekend modules, you are required to complete 20 elective class hours and homework (see below).

 

Advanced 300-Hour:

 

If you pay in one installment, you will be credited with a 6 Month Unlimited Class Pass (beginning the Friday of the first Module) to Delta Groove Yoga to complete these 20 class hours and enjoy lots of yoga! If you are paying per module, you will receive a One Month Unlimited Class Pass starting on the  Friday of that Module..

WHAT KIND OF HOMEWORK AND FINAL EXAMS CAN WE EXPECT?

There will be three 40 day practices which you must complete on your own and document. You will also be asked to turn in six typed out class plans, teach a practice class to Olivia or Valentine, & an open book final exam.

It is a dynamic yoga of awareness which combines physical practice, meditation, and breathwork into an inspiring science of sequence. We work on all the bodily systems (nervous, circulatory, glandular), the heart, the mind & soul. At DGY, our SOULful GROOVE is always accompanied by music and fun! We have a unique rhythm and structure for the Kundalini Kriyas, and we incorporate the growing knowledge of modern neuroscience and philosophy into all of our teaching. It's how we Groove!

  • Turn in six typed out class plans and explanations organized around a unifying theme.

  • Teach a practice class to your peers with the Lead Teachers present.

  • Open book final exam. 

 

Advanced 300-Hour: In addition to the 7 weekend module:
 

  • 36 Training Hours - Tuesday evening workshops for advanced trainees only. This is a weekly guided practice and discussion with Olivia or Valentine on Tuesdays, from 7:15 to 9:15pm. This may be attended in person or in livestream.

  • 5 hours of practice teaching as a Lead Teacher + 20 Hours observing other trainees teaching/offering feedback. DGYS Trainees Only.

 

  • 10 hours of Apprenticeship: Apprenticing, observing, and discussion with your Lead Trainers. This will be done during 200HR DGY Teacher Training sessions. 4 Two Hour Workshops with 30 minute discussions afterwards.

 

  • 5 hours of Seva Yoga: Facilitate 5 hours of teaching as a Seva Yoga project to a community of your choice and obtain 5 evaluation forms from your students.

  • Final Dharma Project: This project radiates your talents and gifts out into the world through the art of Kundalini Yoga. It should implement each of the 8 limbs of Yoga according to Patanjali. Part 1: Complete and document one 120-Day meditation. Part 2: Plan and write out 3 two-hour Kundalini Yoga workshops organized around a theme of your choice. Part 3: Create marketing material for these workshops (Flyer and Social Media Post).

 

  • Final Exam: To be completed during Module 7 in a timed setting.

  • Evaluation Forms: These are used for recording your observations of one Beginner and one Advanced Kundalini Yoga Classes.

Olivia Rokotnitz & Valentine Leonard have been described as explosive yet always grounded. Their approach is finely tuned for a dynamic transformation of the human element: mind, body, spirit & heart. They are committed to translating these ancient practices with passion, levity and depth to leave students feeling uplifted and inspired to be their most authentic Self.

Olivia is a committed student of Kundalini Yoga in all its forms and teachings. She is a long time student of Kundalini Laya Yoga Master Kirantana Khalsa. A Kundalini Yoga Senior Teacher for Ravi Singh & Ana Brett, and a trained Khalsa Way Prenatal Teacher with Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa, Olivia has also trained in Vinyasa, Hatha, and Tantra Yoga with some of the world’s premier teachers. Olivia grew up singing & playing many instruments and has been studying Yoga since she was a teenager.

Valentine's yoga practice took center stage after she fell in love with Kundalini yoga in Olivia's class back in 2010. Valentine went on to train in the US and Europe with masters faithful to the oldest traditions but freed from all dogma (Ravi Singh, Kirantana Kaur Khalsa, Satyavrati Karta). Thanks to their transmission, her passion, her commitment, and 20+ years of teaching experience (philosophy, yoga, creative writing) from the university level to kindergarten, she has been offering classes, workshops, trainings and international retreats in France, Mexico and Costa-Rica since 2012. Facilitating a group dynamic which reassures and inspires, connects and liberates, has become her specialty.

 

Together Olivia & Valentine find a unique rhythm and structure for the Kundalini Yoga Kriyas, mantras, and breath meditations that students have loved for years. They each have studied, taught, and led Kundalini Yoga Trainings together since 2010. Their mission is to teach students how to awaken their Soul, speak their truth, and manifest with love, light & peace. They are dedicated to helping each student discover and express their gifts in teaching and in life.
