TUNE UP THROUGH THE POWER OF
Similar to a musical instrument that can fall out of tune through use, our bodies can also fall out of vibrational harmony and potentially develop illness. Stress and negativity create blockages of a healthy flow of energy, showing up in the energy field around our body as lower energy disturbances at first, and later as illness in our physical body. Sound and vibration can be used to re-tune us to health and one of the most powerful modalities for this is the use of Tibetan singing bowls.
“If we accept that sound is vibration and we know that vibration touches every part of our physical being, then we understand that sound is heard not only through our ears but through every cell in our bodies. One reason sound heals on a physical level is because it so deeply touches and transforms us on the emotional and spiritual planes. Sound can redress imbalances on every level of physiologic functioning and can play a positive role in the treatment of virtually any medical disorder.” ~ Dr. Mitchell Gaynor, director of Medical Oncology and Integrative Medicine, the Cornell Cancer Prevention Center in New York

Singing bowls are classified as a standing bell which sit with the bottom surface resting. Singing bowls were historically made in Tibet, Nepal, India, China, Japan and Korea. The best known types are from the Himalayan region and are often called "Tibetan singing bowls". The bowls I use in the session are from my travels in India & Nepal. The bowls are placed on or around the body. Sound & vibration are created by striking the bowls with a mallet. Sessions are 30 minutes long and a minimum of 3 sessions are recommended.

I grew up with parents who were both acapella singers, singing in shows & competitions, and on occasion my Mother and I would sing together at a few events. I've always found myself drawn to how sound influences the way we feel. In 2003 I began experimenting with chanting mantras & developed a mantra practice...observing the positive effects it had on both the physical & energetic body. In 2008, while living in CA, after my 1st private sound healing session with the didgeridoo & other instruments, I was convinced sound healing had to be part of my path. I began attending several sound healing gatherings and was later invited to participate in a sound meditation, playing the crystal bowls, at a Course in Miracles Retreat in Hot Springs, AR. In 2015, while living in Nepal, I studied sound work with Singing Bowl Grand Master, Shree Krishna Shahi, A 3rd generation Tibetan Singing Bowl Teacher and Sound Healer. And also participated in drumming ceremonies at the Shamanic Studies and Research Center in Kathmandu. My training in Nepal was cut short due to the unforeseen earthquake in April 2015. After leaving Nepal and returning to India, I took further study in Tibetan bowl sound therapy with Maaya Dhami, a holistic healer in Northern India, who learned her metal bowl healing therapy techniques from a Tibetan monk.
There's much to learn in this amazing field of therapy, i'm still learning, but enjoy sharing it with others. I love the phrase “We teach what we most need to learn.”
So often we teach or share what we most want to learn about, embody more of or possibly what we may need ourselves. By sharing it we expand & give others permission to expand. It takes root in our experience and takes flight into other probable realities. It's as much about self discovery as it is about offering compassionate service to others. It is a Joy and Honor to share this gift of sound & have others discover for themselves the positive impact sound can have on mind, body and spirit.
